Women of Millwrighting
FPDI is proud to collaborate with Manitoba Institute of Trades and Technology (MITT), UBC Millwrights Local 1443, and the Millwright Regional Council to offer an Introduction to Millwrighting program created specifically for First Nations women. The 18-week Women of Millwrighting program equips participants with the essential knowledge and practical, hands-on experience needed to pursue entry-level roles in the millwright trade.
Through a blend of in-class instruction and shop-based training, learners explore the fundamentals of industrial mechanics. The program covers key competencies such as precision measurement, equipment installation and alignment, and interpreting technical drawings. Participants also gain introductory experience in oxyfuel cutting and develop confidence working with a range of tools, fasteners, and materials.
By the end of the program, graduates are well prepared to take their first steps into a rewarding and in-demand skilled trade career.
The program begins on May 25, 2026.
