Class 1 Driver Training Program

Our valued partner, First-Class Training Centre Inc. (FCTC) offers the Class 1 Truck Driver program. From 2017 to 2021, 100 Indigenous students have taken the course; 72 completed and 69 % are employed in the industry.

As a member of the Manitoba Trucking Association, FCTC has certified instructors who warrant a high standard of training and support for students.

FPDI recognized the high demand for truck drivers in the labour market and took the initiative to ensure Indigenous students get the opportunity to fill these vacancies.

Prerequisites

Minimum 18 years of age

Class 5 Stage F, with Class one Authorized Instruction Permit and Air Brakes Authorized Instruction Permit

Valid Medical Record on file with Manitoba Public Insurance and Drivers Abstract

Program Details

  • 244 hours of both classroom and field training
  • Practical road testing with MPI
  • Class 1 Certification, with air brakes

Career Opportunities

Successful completion of the program gives you the skills necessary to obtain entry-level employment as a professional Class 1 driver within the Truck Transport industry.

There are numerous career options within this industry, for instance, a company driver, owner operator or eventually a fleet operator.
