Scaffolding Program
FPDI, in partnership with the UBC Manitoba Training Centre, is working to help address the skilled labour shortage in the construction industry. Through this collaboration, the organizations offer a comprehensive pre-apprenticeship 8-week training program that equips First Nations individuals with the skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to begin a career in construction.
The program combines health and safety certifications, job readiness training, and hands-on instruction in scaffold construction. Participants gain practical experience while learning essential safety protocols and developing industry-specific competencies required on active job sites. Emphasis is placed on preparing learners to meet employer expectations and succeed in a fast-paced, high-demand environment. By blending classroom learning with applied training, the program ensures participants are both job-ready and capable of contributing effectively in the field.
The program runs from August 31 to October 23, 2026.
