Painting and Decorating Program

FPDI has partnered with the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades, to deliver the 8-week Painting and Decorating program for First Nations people.

This hands-on training equips learners with foundational skills in blending and mixing paints, creating colour schemes, and applying a variety of techniques to different surfaces. Participants gain practical experience using materials such as neutralizing agents, putty, varnish, lacquer, and stipple-texturing, while also learning how to match and install fabric or vinyl coverings on walls and ceilings.

The program highlights the important role painters and decorators play in preparing and finishing interior and exterior spaces using paint, wallpaper, and specialized coatings. By developing skills in colour mixing and techniques, learners are prepared to produce high-quality, durable finishes across residential, commercial, and industrial environments.

The program begins on July 27, 2026, and will take place at International Union of Painters & Allied Trades, located at 168 Higgins Avenue in Winnipeg.
